St. Paul A.M.E. Church will celebrate its 115th year of service in the year of 2019. We have been Blessed to restore the church after two mishaps. The first was by a hurricane in 1954 and later by fire in 1980. God has sustained this congregation because of their Faithfulness.

St. Paul A.M.E. Church resides in the vicinity of two communities, both of which are historical sites located in Brighton in the downtown area of Portsmouth, Virginia. Each of these communities are undergoing regentrification.

 

We are located at 2400 Chestnut Street Portsmouth, Virginia. The current pastor is the first female and a daughter of the church. Rev. Phyllis Whichard is a very compassionate and caring person. She is also very dedicated and has a great love for God.
