Having received a pastoral appointment to plant a new work (Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Mission) from Bishop Vinton R. Anderson at the Virginia Annual Conference in May of 2000, Rev. Andrea Cornett-Scott held the first service on July 26th, 2000. 

 

At the 135th session of the Virginia Annual Conference in 2001, Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Mission presented a petition signed by 23 members requesting to be recognized as a new work. In 2004, Christ Our Redeemer petitioned the conference to have our standing changed from mission to station.

 

In Christ Our Redeemer’s nineteen-year tenure, she has been a learning laboratory for our young members and leaders. The following ministerial students were licensed to preach and received ordinations within the A.M.E, Church: Rev. Ranyne Herbert, Rev. Shaunna L. Payne, Rev. Jazmine Brooks, Rev. Lynnette Daughtry and Rev. Jennifer Oliver.
