On January 8, 1886, one and a half acre of land was deeded by John and Eliza Lawson to Harmony AME Church off Harmony and Bailey Roads. The trustees involved in this transition were Henry Harris and Jack Traynham for the purpose of having a place to worship and burial ground.
During this period of time, the church was well known throughout the community which was called Harmony at that time. It was very unfortunate the original church was destroyed by fire. Through faith and determination, the church was reestablished and named to Mt. Pisgah AME Church.
On June 19, 1954, R.G. Robertson and Annie S. Robertson sold to Mt. Pisgah the land we occupy today for $200. The trustees were Arthur Wade, Johnnie Wade, Sonny Drumwright, Robert Drumwright, Waverly Pointer, Floyd Wade and Isaac Brandon. The cornerstone was laid commemorating the date and year the church was rebuilt and can be seen on the corner near the ramp.
